In an entrepreneurship course we should start by behaving like entrepreneurs!
That means three things:
- No heavy investments, that we can’t afford. We only use free sources of information and training material.
- You learn what you need to learn, not what some lecturer tells you to read. Therefore we don’t have a list of material, that everybody should read. Only recommendations and inspiration.
- Become a great networker and share your inspiration with others. Let others know about great sources of information – fx by publishing them in this blog.
My top inspiration
I don’t want to leave you completely without any ideas, where to search for information. So I give you a few very good sources to start with:
Podcasts
Mark Juliano
Adjunct professor Mark Juliano at Carnegie Mellon University has provided an excellent series of more than thirty podcasts – and Powerpoint presentations – on different topics related to entrepreneurship.
These podcasts have a very practical approach, and Mark Juliano obviously has a lot of practical experience in his field.
Consider the podcasts as a practical supplement to the textbook – and use them to keep learning when your eyes get tired of reading
Internet Business Mastery
A less structured – but very inspirational podcast is Internet Business Mastery by a couple of internet entrepreneurs – Sterling & Jay.
It has a very high focus on the mindset of an entrepreneur, and it gives a lot of practical inspiration and tools – especially of course on internet based entrepreneurship, but it is also very inspiring on entrepreneurship in general.
Books
If you prefer to have everything in one big textbook, I recommend “Entrepreneurship – sucessfully launching new ventures” by Barringer & Ireland. They probably still have some left in the VIA Bookstore.
